Blackpool Victoria Hospital was founded in 1894 and today serves more than a quarter of a million people as the primary acute care facility on the Fylde Coast. The Emergency Department is one of the busiest in the country, with more than 80,000 attendees every year.

The Foundation Trust spent several years working closely with the local Council and Police on developing a sustainable travel to work plan for approximately 3,000 staff based at the hospital. Our area sales representative met with the Trust's facilities team to discuss secure cycle storage as part of the development of a new multi-storey car park for staff and visitors.

Over the course of several further meetings, the Trust was given a sneak preview of a scale model prototype of a brand new Glasdon product - the Modus™ Cycle Locker. Modus lockers are made from robust Vandalex™ material uprights and 100% recycled Ecoboard™ panels to create a strong, economical and environmentally friendly secure cycle parking solution.

The facilities team from the Trust visited our factory to get "hands on" with the earliest production samples of the Modus locker, including detailed product testing to ensure the new design would stand up to accidental wear and tear and deliberate acts of vandalism.

The first banks of Modus lockers were installed and opened to staff in April 2014. The unique shape of the lockers makes a positive impact on the appearance of the area, and our customer is delighted with the positive feedback from users.
