The D J Sidebottom / Glasdon Charitable Programme Plant a Giant Sequoia Tree in Abergavenny, Wales.

Capable of capturing over 1400 tonnes of CO2 in their lifetime, Giant Sequoia trees are an effective way to offset carbon footprints.*

With locations in Abergavenny, Brecon, Buckinghamshire, and Hampshire, One Life, One Tree: The Sequoia Project runs a project with aspirations to grow Giant Sequoias to a volume of 500 m3 to enable each tree to offset a person’s lifetime carbon footprint.*

Driven by our desire to reach net-zero by 2035, the D J Sidebottom / Glasdon Charitable Programme signed up to the initiative, planting a Giant Sequoia in Abergavenny, Wales.

To promote biodiversity, the forestry project will also plant 3 native UK species trees with our Giant Sequoia tree.*

With planting currently underway, our Giant Sequoia tree will join 2199 other Giant Sequoia trees and 6600 UK Native Broadleaves and other conifer species.

With the potential to capture 10x more CO2 per hectare than natural UK woodland over 100 years, our Giant Sequoia tree, along with the rest of the grove, presents a viable solution to combat climate change and reduce carbon footprints.

The biggest of the four locations, the site in Abergavenny is a previously felled coniferous commercial woodland.* Once full and only when the trees reach adequate maturity, the project donates each Sequoia grove to woodland charities.*

We will also be attempting to grow our own Sequoia tree, with the future goal of planting it outside the Glasdon site.
