SOLAS Compliance

The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) ensures that merchant ships meet minimum safety standards in construction, equipment and operation.

First passed in 1914 in the wake of the Titanic disaster, and updated many times since, SOLAS is broken down into twelve chapters covering all aspects of safety on the seas.

Glasdon Lifebuoys fully comply with Chapter III's standards for life-saving devices, as per the Life-Saving Appliance (LSA) code. The code ensures that lifebuoys are inherently buoyant and capable of supporting weight in the water for extended periods, and are resistant to fire and corrosion.

Glasdon lifebuoys are drop tested from heights of up to 70 metres and available with a selection of rope options. Available in 600mm or 750mm diameters, our Lifebuoys can be purchased on their own or with a secure Guardian™ Lifebuoy Housing to offer a complete water safety solution.
