Dillon Byrne May Update

May has been a great month for me, I took part in 3 pro Kermesses. The first two took place in the middle of the month, both went well for the team as we had guys up there. I also was pleased as I was starting to find my legs.

I then travelled back home for a week, in which time I did a huge block of training. Including some really big rides back to back, the weather was fantastic, which was a nice surprise!

The last of the three kermesses, held on May 31st, was the biggest of the year. It attracted massive names such as Greg Van Avermaet, André Griepel, Tom Boonen, Fabian Cancellara, and their teams! It was a ridiculously fast race as you would expect, with the 107 miles being covered at an average speed of 29mph!

I'm happy to be in good form now and it comes at a perfect time, as I come back home to race for the Beaumont Trophy on the 19th of June. It is a UCI 1.2 race in Newcastle for which my team will also be coming over for a couple of days later. I will be staying home until the 29th of June as I will also be racing the British National Championships, in Stockton, on the 26th of June. Fingers crossed I will be even stronger for then.

In the meantime, I have a UCI 1.2 on the 5th of June, and there is also a UCI 1.1, in which I am hoping to be selected for. So there are a lot of big races that just keep on coming and coming.
